Objectives

By implementing the project, Tallinn Health University of Applied Sciences (UAS) aimed to support the institution’s international goals and make education more open, modern and globally connected. The main objective was to create more opportunities for both students and staff to gain international experience, develop important skills and build networks that support their personal and professional growth. For students, the project was expected to increase confidence in international situations, improve language and communication skills and deepen understanding of different cultures. Special attention was given to making international learning more accessible by offering short-term mobility and blended learning options, including internationalisation at home, especially for those who are unable to participate in long-term exchanges. For academic and administrative staff, the focus was on strengthening teaching and professional skills through international cooperation and exchange. Staff members were encouraged to gather new ideas, share best practices and bring back fresh knowledge to enhance curricula and improve the overall quality of education. At the institutional level, the project aimed to build stronger international partnerships, diversify learning opportunities and increase participation in European cooperation initiatives. More broadly, the goal was to support the development of a more open and internationally engaged higher education institution. By involving international experts, taking part in international projects and establishing meaningful partnerships, the project sought to improve the quality of education and research. Inclusion and flexibility were also prioritised, to ensure that individuals with different backgrounds and needs could benefit from international experiences. The goals of the project were closely aligned with the long-term strategic objectives of Tallinn Health University of Applied Sciences: to educate healthcare professionals with strong global competencies, promote innovation in teaching and learning and become a recognised leader in applied health education in the Baltic region.
