The objectives of our project were to raise awareness, cognition, and knowledge about the issue among young individuals from different countries. We aimed to equip them with the skills to distinguish fake news on social media, evaluate the negative impact of such news on themselves, and become conscious social media users. Through the project, we sought to conduct workshops that contributed to young people's media literacy, raised their awareness against misinformation, and informed them about platforms that verify news in the mass media. We intended to educate the youth about these verification platforms, enabling them to differentiate between accurate and misleading information. By enhancing the critical thinking abilities of the participants, we aimed to reduce their susceptibility to propaganda and mitigate the negative effects of fake news on young people. We predicted that informed youth would change their media consumption habits, enriching their perspectives on mass media by understanding the differences in social media usage habits across various European societies. We also aimed to promote social integration by encouraging teamwork and shared responsibilities among the young participants. Additionally, we planned to address the distinctions between traditional mass media and new media, highlighting how these differences affect messaging. We aimed to raise awareness among young people about the pressures exerted through propaganda and messages on social media platforms, thereby supporting broader social awareness. Ultimately, we sought to contribute positively to the personal development of young individuals and support non-governmental organisations actively working in the field by providing them with information on fake news.
