Objectives

We were inspired to write this project by our daily work in which we have seen youth workers and educators change the way they work since the start of the pandemic. We found confirmation of our observations in the Sustainable Development Goals Report 2022 (https://www.unep.org/resources/report/sustainabledevelopment-goals-report-2022). It was great that many began to use more methods of both non-formal education and more digital or partially digital solutions. Colleagues were happy to share ready-made, detailed methods, exercises, and solutions. And this ultimately led to a decrease in interest among our target audience in the issues of adapting our own or already known methods to their target group. It is this simple, but such an important ability to adapt that we wanted to awaken within the framework of our project. It was very important for us to recall the importance of being able to adapt and inspire, through an interesting example, the participant to develop this competence. We opted to utilize the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY method as an illustration for this project. The LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® method is a guided approach to thinking, communication, and problem-solving, designed for application within organizations, teams, and by individuals. It is grounded in comprehensive research from various domains including business, organizational development, psychology, and learning, and is rooted in the notion of "hands-on knowledge." While the method itself is not new, whin this project, we focused on adaptation for groups of different levels. For instance we introduced Lego Braille Bricks caters specifically to visually impaired individuals. Such innovations inspired us to share our discoveries that we had while working with this method. One of the important conditions for successful adaptation, in our opinion, was the collection of relevant information. As part of the project, we showcased the possibilities of LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY for reflection and collecting feedback. Within the framework of this project, we focused on reflections and debriefings using the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY method and demonstrated various adaptation options using its example. The aim of the project was to inspire Youth Educators (teachers, youth workers, educators etc) to meet new adaptation challenges, provide them with a safe space to experience and provide practical guidance for their daily work. The KEY objectives of the project were: 1. To enable participants to think innovatively, creatively adapt the methods already available in their daily work for a mixedability group in order to increase the impact and effectiveness of youth activities. 2. To equip participants with meaningful methods of LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY to work with young people. 3. To enable participants to become part of a mixed-ability group themselves and gain experience on equal terms. 4. To show the possibilities of the Erasmus program as a tool for obtaining a "live" experience, association, inspiration.
