Objectives

Our aim with the project was to diversify the professional knowledge of youth work specialists in Võru County so that they could maintain and support mental health. Specifically, the goal was for youth workers to find quality self-development and self-care practices from the youth work centers and youth clubs chosen by the Icelandic partner, which they could apply both personally and professionally in their region. Such knowledge enhances the professionalism of youth workers, enabling them to utilize new knowledge more effectively. As a result of increased knowledge and skills, the work-related stress of specialists is reduced, they can better assess situations, prevent emerging problems, and involve various workgroups in both their daily work and in solving situations. Inclusion and cooperation were also key objectives of the project. Since the staff of youth work centers in Võru County are often alone in youth centers and lack a strong support network, Iceland, with its population and dispersed settlements, was an ideal partner country to learn from. To prevent youth workers' burnout, cope with multifaceted challenges, and solve individual problems, it was necessary to understand Iceland's experience with cooperation.
