Objectives

This training course was made upon request of the partners involved who deal with the complexity of issues related to inclusion of young people, support of local community development, social inclusion of young people from minority groups as well as intercultural dialogue. Some of the partners work with the youth groups of refugee or migrant origin and the receiving communities (Poland, Lithuania, Spain, Czech Republic); others with the topics of equality and equity or social inclusion of youth with fewer opportunities (Spain), for some partners capacity building for educators is one of the priority topics (Poland, Lithuania), others actively work on intercultural dialogue among Finno-Ugric cultures (Estonia, Finland, Hungary) by providing them with a platform to voice their concerns, share their experiences, and promote their cultural heritage. The training course focused on building competences of educators and youth workers in supporting youth-led initiatives promoting intercultural exchange and strengthening cultural identity hence contributing to the development and strengthening of local communities. It was implemented on 06-14 December 2023 and involved educators: youth workers, teachers, youth leaders and activists – in total 25 participants from 7 countries: Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Finland, Spain (we requested grant for 26 participants however there were 25 participants since we could not find a participant from Finland). The project was financed by Erasmus+ National Agency of Estonia. The applicant organization is Eesti-Mordva Selts. Objectives: - to share realities in the local communities of educators and reflect on the challenges young people face related to their identities and community involvement; - to reflect on possible ways to support active participation of young people in community development activities in intercultural environment; - to reflect on the concept of ‘unity in diversity’ from the perspective of majority-minority relationships; - to discover personal challenges of dealing with diversity and strategies how to improve it; - to contribute to the development and strengthening of local communities through youth-led initiatives promoting intercultural exchange and cultural identity; - to develop new local initiatives aiming at strengthening cultural identity or/and promoting intercultural exchange for young people; - to learn new creative tools to support the development and mentoring of youth-led initiatives ( such as Lego Serious Play , design thinking).
