Through the implementation of the present Project, the Athens School of Fine Arts (ASFA) has systematically strengthened its strategy for international and European networking. Collaborations with partners across Europe and beyond constitute a vital instrument for achieving the School’s strategic objectives: promoting equal participation in higher and lifelong education, contributing to regional cultural development, and reinforcing the connection between local and international cultural environments. In practice, ASFA has established an extensive network of partnerships and participations in national and international programmes in the fields of art, culture, and education. The School currently maintains dozens of bilateral Erasmus agreements with institutions in countries such as France, Germany, Spain, Poland as well as specific cooperation agreements with third countries. At the same time, ASFA actively participates in international artistic and cultural networks and hosts initiatives such as the “Circuits & Currents”, which foster exchanges among researchers, artists, and institutional partners. Furthermore, ASFA has developed significant internal structures and initiatives to promote inclusion, diversity, and equal access. Within this framework, the Accessibility Unit has been established with the mission of supporting members of the academic community with disabilities or special educational needs, ensuring equal access to all educational, research, administrative, and social activities - through accessible educational materials, alternative examination methods, and the enhancement of both digital and physical accessibility. In addition, a protocol of cooperation with the National Confederation of Disabled People (NCDP) has been signed, aiming at the joint development of policies and actions that improve accessibility for people with disabilities in the fields of art and culture. The Teaching and Learning Support Centre (KEDIMA) has become a strategic hub for enhancing the quality of teaching and learning. It supports academic staff in the implementation of innovative pedagogical practices, the integration of information and communication technologies into the educational process, and the international exchange of best practices in art education and creative research. In the field of digital transformation, ASFA has fully integrated electronic platforms and digital tools into its everyday operations. Its official website is now fully translated into English, offering multilingual access to information, while digital administrative and educational tools - including platforms such as the Erasmus Without Paper (EWP) network - have become integral to the institution’s workflow and mobility management processes. ASFA also promotes environmental awareness in the renovation of its facilities. The School’s annexes are gradually being refurbished in accordance with contemporary environmental standards, supporting ecological specifications and enhancing the sustainability of their artistic and educational activities. In terms of public engagement and democratic participation, ASFA perceives art as a space of social dialogue, a tool for civic engagement and public reflection. Through exhibitions, workshops, cultural events, and artistic movements, the School encourages pluralism, dialogue, and citizen participation in public life, acknowledging that artists have historically been at the forefront of social change and critical discourse. Through the proposed action, ASFA aimed to: Consolidate and expand international collaborations in the fields of art, culture, and education. Provide flexible and inclusive forms of mobility (e.g. Blended Intensive Programmes) for students, teaching, and administrative staff. Enhance access and inclusion for underrepresented groups through art and supportive institutional structures. Innovate in educational practice by integrating digital and hybrid methodologies into visual arts education. Align its infrastructures and practices with environmental and sustainable development standards. Strengthen its role as a bridge between academia, culture, and society through participatory art initiatives and public dialogue. In summary, ASFA sought not only financial support but primarily the empowerment of its strategic vision in the areas of internationalisation, inclusion, civic participation, and sustainability.
