Objectives

The University of Thessaly, participating in the Erasmus programme almost since its inception, has consistently aimed to create an open and internationally oriented academic environment, capable of attracting students and staff members from all over the world. Its strategic objective is to keep the education it provides globally oriented, to cultivate academic extroversion, and to expand its research network at an international level. Therefore, the project’s objectives focused on: - strengthening, supporting and ensuring the quality of student and staff mobility, both in studies and training, - integrating participants into educational, research and training activities in order to generate mutual academic and cultural benefits, - developing and deepening international collaborations through bilateral and multilateral agreements, exchange of good practices and joint educational initiatives, - encouraging the active participation of students and staff in voluntary, social, environmental and sports activities that strengthen the connection between university and society. At the same time, the project made a substantial contribution to the implementation of the Erasmus+ horizontal priorities: - Inclusion and equality, with special support for students with disabilities and/or special educational needs, ensuring equal opportunities for participation in all activities. - Green transition, by promoting sustainable travel choices and fostering ecological awareness through educational and voluntary activities, as well as by reducing the use of paper and printing in administrative processes, thanks to the increased use of digital mobility management tools. - Digital transition, through the use of innovative learning and collaboration tools in the Blended Intensive Programmes and the gradual digitalisation of mobility procedures. - Participation in democratic life, through actions that highlighted the social dimension of education and empowered students as active citizens. Finally, a key objective was to strengthen the link between education, research and innovation, by organising summer schools, international and joint postgraduate programmes, and interdisciplinary collaborations. Particular emphasis was also placed on the promotion of multilingualism and the increase of courses offered in English, in order to enhance the international attractiveness of the University and to attract talented students, young researchers and academics from abroad.
