The primary mission was to transition stakeholders from skepticism to informed implementation, guided by the following specific targets: Knowledge Elevation: Increase baseline technical literacy regarding biopesticide application by at least 60% across all target participant groups by the project's conclusion. [o] Perception Reversal: Shift the "efficacy confidence" metric—the belief that biopesticides are a viable alternative to synthetics—from a pre-project sub-40% baseline to over 80%. [o] Adoption Commitment: Secure a formal "intention to adopt" commitment from 90% of multiplier event attendees, moving away from the initial 15% readiness rate recorded in the first survey. [o] Asset Creation: Develop and deploy a 12-module educational toolkit and an automated BI dashboard to track the long-term environmental impact of biopesticide integration. [o] Regulatory Alignment: Ensure 100% of project outputs comply with current EU/local safety standards for biological crop protection, documented through a formal compliance portfolio. [o] Safety Literacy: Achieve a 70% improvement in stakeholder awareness regarding the reduced toxicological profile of biologicals compared to conventional chemical treatments.
The BioPestGuardians project addressed a critical disconnect between high-level European environmental policy and practical agricultural reality. While the European Green Deal sets ambitious targets for reducing synthetic chemical pesticides, our research identified a significant "knowledge and confidence gap" among practitioners. The primary need addressed was the lack of accessible, scientifically validated training in biological pest management for the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector. Prior to our intervention, many programs focused on theoretical learning, leaving students and farmers without the practical skills to implement sustainable alternatives. This was compounded by a "visual and technical barrier," where complex data remained inaccessible to those in the field. We applied for this project to create a professional educational ecosystem that bridges this divide. By providing localized pest control strategies for the Mediterranean and Balkan regions, the project empowers stakeholders to lead the green transition with scientific rigor, safeguarding biodiversity and soil health through a market-driven curriculum.
