The G-FORCE project aimed to empower higher education students and academic staff to address gender bias by strengthening awareness, knowledge, and skills related to gender equality, respect for sexual orientation, and the prevention of discrimination and violence. It focused on developing innovative digital learning tools and training resources to support capacity building and improve teaching and learning practices. The project also aimed to support higher education institutions and relevant stakeholders in adopting and implementing effective gender equality practices and policies, enhancing institutional capacity and promoting inclusive environments. Through the creation of the G-FORCE AI+ digital support centre, it provided accessible and personalized guidance on gender-related issues. In the short term, the project aimed to improve competences, awareness, and institutional practices. In the long term, it sought to strengthen institutions, foster collaboration through networks, and contribute to sustainable change in promoting gender equality and inclusion at local, national, and EU level.
The G-FORCE project was developed in response to persistent gender inequalities within higher education institutions, where discrimination, gender-based violence, and unequal power relations continue to affect both students and staff. Despite the existence of equality policies, significant gaps remain between formal frameworks and their effective implementation, often due to limited awareness, insufficient training, and lack of trust in reporting mechanisms. LGBTQ individuals remain particularly vulnerable, facing exclusion and inadequate institutional support. The project addresses the need to strengthen gender equality, promote respect for sexual orientation, and create safer, more inclusive academic environments. It focuses on raising awareness, enhancing institutional capacity, and supporting the practical implementation of policies. By fostering collaboration and sharing good practices, G-FORCE contributes to reducing discrimination and promoting a culture of equality in higher education aligned with European values and strategic priorities.
