Objectives

The main aim of our project was to respond to the growing challenges that young people and youth workers face in the field of mental health, social inclusion, and we aimed to create intercultural dialogue. By implementing two complementary activities, the Youth Exchange “Mind Matters” and the Training Course “Soulful Movement”, we wished to create opportunities both for young people and for youth professionals to strengthen their knowledge, skills, and attitudes in order to better address these challenges. Through the Youth Exchange, the main aim was to empower young participants from seven different European and non-European countries to engage in open dialogue around mental health, to share experiences and perspectives across cultures, and to jointly reflect on ways to combat stigma, discrimination, and social exclusion. The activity was designed not only to raise awareness about the importance of mental well-being but also to encourage active participation, mutual respect, and the building of intercultural competencies that are essential for peaceful coexistence in diverse societies. By doing so, the project aimed to foster resilience among young people and to contribute to stronger social cohesion. In parallel, the Training Course focused on equipping youth workers with practical tools, methods, and innovative techniques to support young people in their communities more effectively. The aim was to enhance the capacity of youth organisations by investing in the professional growth of their staff and volunteers, ensuring that they can implement high-quality learning and support activities. Further to that, the course emphasized the importance of practice, critical thinking, and the development of civic competencies, so that youth workers can inspire active citizenship and democratic participation among young people. Overall, the combination of these two activities reflected our vision of addressing mental health not only at the level of individual empowerment but also through the structural improvement of youth work practices. By strengthening both young people and youth workers, the project contributed to combating discrimination, promoting equality and inclusion, and ensuring that the values of solidarity, diversity, and respect remain central to the work of ELIX and its partners in the years to come.
