Objectives

As Youth Horizons we have been working in the youth field for the last eight years. As we are an NGO we have to make use of International and local funds to be able to fund our youth work activities, especially the training part. Erasmus+ is one such funds that we have made use of and thanks to Erasmus+ we have been able to fund a number of projects that were beneficial for both the youth workers and also the young people that we work with. The drawback of Key Action 1 Projects in the Erasmus+ 2014 – 2020 was the fact that an organization had most of the time to apply one project at a time. Together with our members and also with some of the partners that we work with from abroad, we have done some research both online literature research and also research amongst our staff and we pointed out the areas that the youth workers feel that they want to develop more on. The issue of self-development was an issue that popped up more than once by different people who took part in the research that we carried out. The youth workers that took part in the interview feel that they need to have more trainings to help them self-develop themselves and also, they need more tools on how to help the young people that they work with to self-develop as well. As on organization, we started to implement a number of projects in this regard. The main aim objectives that we had and that we managed to implement successfully during this year is to help the participants become more aware of themselves. Through various models and methodologies such as 'The hero's journey' by Joseph Campbell and 'The Little Prince' by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, the youth workers became more aware of themselves as a whole person and their journey of self-development. Apart from the main aim there is also other essential objectives that were reached along the way. 1) Quality Youth Work Practices: The trainings that we offered till now, have already managed to increase the quality of youth work. One has to keep in mind that few countries have universities that offer youth work courses and thus trainings like these are very important for youth workers to keep improving their youth work skills and become more proficient in their profession. The youth workers that attended such training courses shared their newly acquired skills with other youth workers in their organization and/or community thus our training results reached even more youth workers and, in the end, more young people 2) Help in the self-development of youth workers and the Continuous personal development of staff. Thanks to the projects, we helped the youth workers that took part, in their self-development process. They were given tools and methods with regards to self-development and they experienced some of these tools themselves in the sessions that were carried out. In return, they then helped in the self-development process of the young people that they work with. 3) Reaching Young People who are marginalized. As we and also most of the partners that we work with, work with are marginalized young people the training that we implemented, will indirectly effecting such people. This is because the tools that we gave to these youth workers are directly implemented with these marginalized youth. 4) Capacity Building of organizations: These projects provide an opportunity for capacity building for all the organizations were part of the trainings implemented. Apart from the capacity building in the area/topics of the project this project helped the organizations build their capacity in others area including project management and other skills related to youth work. 5) Networking: Projects like this serve as a networking opportunity between the organizations that for part of the project partnership. Such opportunities gave a chance for new partnerships to form between organizations.
