Objectives

The primary objective of our project was to address pressing global environmental issues while empowering young people to take an active role in shaping their communities and strengthening their European citizenship. By focusing on the themes of climate change, environmentally sustainable methods, and inclusion, we aimed to foster a culture of awareness and proactive engagement among youth across Europe. Specific Objectives: Empowerment and European Citizenship: We sought to enhance participants' European identity and their understanding of the importance of social participation in combating climate change. By fostering a sense of belonging to a broader European community, we aimed to motivate young people to take action on environmental issues. Green Entrepreneurship: Our project encouraged participants to think creatively and develop their own strategic plans for promoting sustainable practices in their local contexts. By stepping outside their comfort zones, young people generated innovative ideas for green entrepreneurship, addressing environmental challenges while fostering economic growth. Active Participation: We facilitated the direct involvement of youth from six different countries (Greece, Cyprus, Portugal, Serbia, Bulgaria, and Romania) in activities aimed at cultivating responsible attitudes toward energy consumption and waste reduction. Our focus on active participation highlighted the urgent need for collective action, as evidenced by alarming waste statistics in the EU. Cultural Understanding and Unity: Through interactions among participants from diverse backgrounds, we promoted a deeper understanding of the differences and similarities between nations. This cultural exchange aimed to foster unity and collaboration in addressing shared environmental concerns. Promotion of a Healthy Living Environment: By raising awareness of environmental pollution and its impact on community health, we aimed to cultivate a responsible attitude toward sustainable living among participants. Our goal was to instill the importance of maintaining a healthy environment for current and future generations. Inclusion of Participants with Fewer Opportunities: We placed significant emphasis on ensuring that all participants, particularly those facing economic or social challenges, had equal opportunities to engage in the project. Inclusion was a core value throughout our activities, ensuring that diverse voices were heard. Sustainable Practices in Everyday Life: The project addressed key concerns related to sustainable food, energy, and waste reduction. Participants engaged in hands-on activities to learn how to source food responsibly and care for their environment, equipping them with practical skills that could be implemented in their communities. Development of Entrepreneurship Skills: Through collaborative activities, we aimed to develop participants’ entrepreneurial skills while promoting environmental stewardship. Group discussions and role-playing activities encouraged democratic communication and collective problem-solving. In summary, our project successfully brought together 48 young participants and 12 leaders to engage in meaningful discussions and activities centered on environmental sustainability. Through hands-on learning and collaborative efforts, we aimed to increase their environmental knowledge, encourage responsible behavior, and empower them to be agents of change in their communities. By promoting inclusion and sustainable practices, we hope to inspire a new generation of environmentally conscious European citizens ready to tackle the challenges of climate change.
