This Youth Exchange Project aimed to raise awareness about the issue of gender-based discrimination as well as incidents of gender-based violence. This did not mean solely focusing on the discrimination against women because of their gender, but also against men. During the days of the Exchange, the participants had the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the phenomena and effects of discrimination and how it affected the lives of people in a modern “progressive” society. Furthermore, the participants had the chance to learn more about internalized misogyny, how it manifested in everyday life, and ways to tackle it and promote gender equality. Additionally, it was desirable to set the grounds for a national or transnational campaign regarding gender equality and inclusion. At the end of the Exchange, a presentation with various audio-visual products was shared, containing materials developed during the Exchange by the participants. More specifically, the objectives of the project were to: • Comprehend the meaning of gender inequality, how it appeared in our modern society, and how it affected other sectors of our life. • Enhance knowledge about the phenomena of discrimination based on stereotypes. • Raise awareness about racism and discriminatory behaviors in all fields of life. • Raise awareness of policies and good practices developed at the EU and national levels to combat the issue. • Encourage and help the participants identify and target gender-based discrimination and attempt to tackle it through their behaviors and stance towards society. • Enhance participants’ competencies in social engagement and active roles in combating inequality and discrimination. • Promote an inclusive democratic society where everyone could feel welcome and safe to actively participate. • Support young people in developing core skills for their lifelong learning.
