Objectives

By implementing the project, we sought to achieve several key objectives aimed at addressing the growing challenges faced by refugees, immigrants, and asylum seekers in Europe. First and foremost, we wanted to raise awareness among youth workers about the mechanisms through which these vulnerable groups are often constructed as threats or subordinate entities in society. This included exploring how social discrimination operates and how media stereotypes contribute to the negative portrayal of these communities. The project aimed to equip youth workers with practical tools and methodologies to counteract these harmful stereotypes and hate speech. We focused on fostering empathy, promoting the culture of solidarity, and connecting the experiences of refugees, immigrants, and asylum seekers with historical examples of migration to highlight their contributions to society. This approach was designed to reduce the risk of misinterpretation and encourage a more balanced understanding of migration issues. Furthermore, we sought to enhance the personal and professional skills of youth workers, empowering them to actively engage with migration issues and advocate for the rights of these communities. By participating in this project, youth workers were trained to support young people in challenging and deconstructing prejudiced attitudes, thereby promoting a more inclusive and accepting society. Another key objective was to cultivate a climate of respect and trust within European society by highlighting the realities of immigration. We aimed to promote the values of peace, cultural acceptance, cooperation, and the integration of migrants as essential elements for the progress and evolution of the European vision. Through this project, we also strived to prevent the violent radicalization of young people by fostering a deeper understanding of common societal values and encouraging positive social interactions. Our project sought to empower youth workers to become agents of change, capable of transforming societal attitudes towards migrants and fostering a more inclusive, respectful, and culturally diverse Europe.
