Institut La Bastida is a public secondary school in the city of Santa Coloma de Gramenet where, for years, the different educational agents have been working on the organisation of mobilities for vocational training internships, both higher and intermediate level, and training exchanges of students and job shadowing of teachers from other countries. We also send teachers (job shadowing) to provide us with pedagogical initiatives that help us to improve our day-to-day educational practice. Overall, in our centre we offer higher level training courses in Social Integration, Early Childhood Education, Communicative Mediation, Social and Sports Education and Training, and Physical Conditioning. We are considered a ‘Centre of Maximum Complexity’. The profile of the student body responds to the social and cultural reality of our city, with a high percentage of recently arrived and highly mobile students, with a high need for reception, inclusion and assimilation of new forms of identity and cultures. It is also heterogeneous in terms of educational needs and learning rhythms. These circumstances force us to take on ambitious challenges and objectives. We want to offer our students quality educational guidance and training that helps them to grow on a personal and interpersonal level as well as on a professional level, to develop their critical sense and to reflect on their values within the society in which they live. And these activities, together with our motivation for the Erasmus+ project, our long experience and our professional and human team, allow us to align ourselves with the principles and requirements of today's society and to fulfil our objectives. To summarise our circumstances: since 2021, we have the ECHE charter, which allows us to contribute to the internationalisation of our training offer and the opportunities for our students. We want to adapt to today's needs for more international on-the-job training. We also want the population of our city to feel part of Europe and to see all the possibilities that its members have to grow and improve their future. This population has a cultural variety of different languages and religions; it also suffers from a high unemployment rate, making it difficult for its youngest residents to find employment, which labels them with a vulnerable character, in addition to our involvement to reduce school drop-out rates, motivating our students to participate in the different European mobility projects, to enrich their curriculum by taking on new learning challenges, as well as the participation of our teaching staff in these projects through the mobilities dedicated to teaching staff.
