Objectives

Our main expectation was to offer our students the opportunity to live an international experience that would enrich them and help them grow both personally and professionally. Most of them come from families with limited economic resources and, for many, the Erasmus+ grants represent the only real chance to leave the island territory, get closer to Europe, and overcome the sense of isolation caused by the geographical distance of the Canary Islands from the rest of the continent. At the same time, the project was designed in line with the objectives set out in our ECHE. Among them, we highlight the need to acknowledge the existence of gender stereotypes and to go beyond them, so that equality becomes a true driver of change within educational practices. Although national legislation has long promoted equality, reality shows that optimal levels have not yet been achieved in all social spheres. With this conviction, we understood that our project should go beyond mobility itself, contributing to the development of a more inclusive, critical, and gender-equal European citizenship. We also expected to foster the continuous professional development of our teaching staff, enabling them to acquire new methodological, linguistic, and digital competences, while strengthening the exchange of good practices with European partner institutions. We believe that teacher mobility not only enriches individual pedagogical work but also contributes directly to the innovation and modernization of the institution as a whole. In addition, we conceived the project as an opportunity to address the horizontal priorities of Erasmus+. This included inclusion and diversity, by facilitating the participation of students with fewer opportunities; environmental sustainability, by promoting awareness and the use of responsible practices during mobility; digital transformation, by supporting the development of digital competences for both students and staff; and active citizenship, by engaging the whole school community in the dissemination and valorisation of project results. Finally, one of the expected outcomes was to generate a positive impact on the entire educational community and on the local environment. To this end, the project included dissemination activities such as return sessions, family events, presentations in staff meetings, and initiatives open to the wider community. In this way, we aimed to consolidate a culture of internationalisation in our school, projecting an open, diverse, sustainable, and truly European vision.
