Objectives

The Joaquim Mir Secondary School in Vilanova i la Geltrú is a public school owned by the Government of Catalonia. Vilanova is a city close to Barcelona and very well connected. Our school offers the following programs: ESO (Compulsory Secondary Education), Bachillerato (Baccalaureate), Intermediate and Advanced Vocational Training, and Basic Vocational Training. Our school has been addressing various student needs for years, such as youth unemployment, truancy, school dropouts, and lack of motivation. To address these needs, ensure students are better prepared for the labor market, motivate them with new challenges, and create more innovative teaching, we are pursuing a school internationalization plan, which is part of this project. Our objectives are to support inclusion and diversity, develop professional and personal skills, including self-esteem, autonomy, and maturity, and to raise students' awareness of the importance of the environment. Another of our goals is to improve their language and communication skills. To achieve this, an excellent way is to provide them with study and work experiences abroad, thereby improving their employability. This directly influences their motivation for learning and thus reduces school failure and dropout rates. Improving participants' attitudes toward interculturality and developing European awareness and democratic values is one of our key objectives in participating in and managing this European project.
