For many years, our school, INS Escola d'Hoteleria i Turisme de Barcelona, has been developing the ERASMUS project for Vocational Training students in Higher-level Training Cycles of the families of Hospitality and Tourism sectors. Our goal is to be a leading, innovative and prestigious integrated Vocational Training Centre for the different training courses offered at our centre, optimising the relationship between the school and businesses and creating international collaboration networks between vocational training centres, businesses and other actors in the educational and labour fields, which can generate future opportunities for mobility and long-term cooperation. Through internationalisation, we aim to improve the employability of our students by offering VET students the opportunity to undertake internships in foreign companies. It is expected that they will develop practical and technical skills applicable in an international work environment, improving their employability both in their country of origin and abroad. In addition, the ERASMUS project allows students to acquire specific skills in the sector in which they are training and to learn in multicultural contexts, making them more competitive in the labour market. Furthermore, immersion in another country allows students to improve their language skills, both in the language of the host country and in the use of English. During the 2023-24 academic year, we expanded with new partners in Cork (Ireland) and two new partners in Lyon (France), filling all 14 places awarded. Regarding the K131 scholarships for Staff Mobility for Training, the aim is to enable teaching staff to integrate experiences and good practices from the host institution, promoting the transfer of knowledge or skills, and to acquire practical skills in these companies. The observation of the learning system in a VET institute in a partner country is carried out with the aim of acquiring new knowledge and skills for teachers, which are essential for quality education. Through international experience, both students and the educational centres involved can discover new methodologies, technologies and teaching approaches, which they can then transfer and apply in their own educational contexts. The Erasmus project, based on VET internships abroad, seeks not only to improve students' employment opportunities and technical skills, but also to provide them with a transformative experience in cultural and personal terms, preparing them for a more globalised world of work.
