The CEU Cardenal Herrera University, within the framework of the KA131-2023 project, continued strengthening and expanding its internationalization strategy, which has been developed for more than two decades. The main purpose of this project was to consolidate a university that is open and connected to the world, promoting mobility and international training for students, teaching and research staff (PDI), and technical, management, and administrative services staff (PTGAS). International mobility became a key tool for fostering academic, professional, and intercultural skills in an increasingly globalized context. Through this project, participants were able to gain new academic and professional perspectives, strengthen their ability to adapt to diverse environments, and benefit from experiences that linked theory with practice in an international setting. One of the distinctive aspects of this project was the promotion of innovative digital internationalization initiatives, such as Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL). In this edition, special emphasis was placed on COIL for Staff, aimed at PTGAS personnel, as a tool to encourage their participation in the university’s internationalization efforts. This practice, pioneering in our context, enabled technical and administrative staff to develop intercultural skills, improve their management processes, and foster a culture of international collaboration without requiring prior physical mobility. The combination of virtual and in-person experiences strengthened their involvement in the institution’s global strategy, increasing the impact of internationalization across the entire university community. The KA131-2023 project also allowed for increased participation in BIP programs, which encouraged multicultural learning in hybrid environments and also served as a platform for PTGAS staff from different parts of the world to gather at our campus, share experiences, and learn together about university internationalization. Within this framework, Europe Day was also celebrated, contributing to reinforcing the European dimension and raising participants’ awareness of the shared values of the Union. In addition, short-term mobilities—different from BIPs—were promoted, offering students the opportunity to benefit from more flexible international experiences tailored to their needs. These short mobilities reinforced inclusion by opening participation to those who could not take part in long-term stays, and they also contributed to broadening the diversity of profiles within the project. Likewise, the organization of mirror classes and joint sessions with partner universities was promoted, enriching the shared learning experience. The digitalization of processes was another central focus of the project. Through the Erasmus Without Papers network, the university streamlined the management of agreements and Online Learning Agreements, thereby optimizing available resources and improving transparency in the international mobility process. Given the strategic importance of mobility, CEU Cardenal Herrera University also promoted its micro-credentials system, which included the “internationalization” pathway for both ungraduate and posgraduate students. This track made it possible to recognize and highlight students’ international experiences, linking mobility to a formal accreditation process that enhanced its academic and professional impact and contributed to participants’ future employability. Finally, the project fostered the mobility of both PTGAS and PDI staff in order to increase the impact of internationalization on the quality of teaching, research, and university management. In this way, the active participation of all groups in international experiences not only enriched their personal and professional development but also promoted the exchange of knowledge and best practices with foreign institutions. In summary, the KA131-2023 project not only continued building on the achievements of previous projects, but also made progress toward a more inclusive, innovative, and sustainable internationalization, integrating the entire university community. The commitment to initiatives such as COIL for Staff, the combination of in-person and virtual formats, process digitalization, recognition through micro-credentials, short-term mobilities, and the celebration of Europe Day represented a step forward in building a more global, competitive, and world-connected CEU Cardenal Herrera University.
