This project was conceived as an indispensable tool to achieve greater and better internationalization of our students, professors and administrative staff and of the teaching, research and management of the University of Valladolid. It was also conceived as an instrument for the promotion of the UVA abroad and the attraction of the best students and professors/researchers. We have always kept in mind the principles of the ECHE UVa, which have been fully complied with. We have boosted the participation of students with fewer opportunities by broadening their profile in the calls for applications, so that more students have benefited from the additional aid. In addition, UVa awards supplementary grants from its own budget to help those with unexpected financial needs or who cannot be considered as students with fewer opportunities but have a real financial need. We have worked hard to encourage students and staff to take green trips as much as possible, mainly to countries such as Portugal, France, Italy and Belgium. As far as digitization is concerned, UVa is the SIGMA institution that has signed the most IIAs through EWP and processes a very high percentage of Learning Agreements for both students sent and received by SIGMA EWP. Thanks to this project, and in collaboration with the Institute of European Studies, we have initiated seminars on European Integration and we celebrate Europe Day with the students we receive by organizing a talk with a round table and recreational activities in collaboration with ESN. Our aim with these activities is to raise awareness of our European citizenship. Throughout the project we have worked hard to achieve the integration of incoming students in our community through various actions such as the promotion of volunteer activities in our environment through information campaigns, material on paper, on the web and networks. We have managed to have these solidarity activities included in the Learning Agreement for recognition in their institutions of origin. This has led to a substantial number of incoming students becoming better acquainted with our social reality and better integrated into our environment. We have also encouraged them to enroll in the Service-Learning courses available in our offer. We work very closely with ESN in the organization of activities such as ERASMUS in Schools, Invite an ERASMUS to dinner, etc., which facilitate the integration of incoming students. It also supports the development of our language policy by promoting teaching in English, which makes our institution more attractive to students from the best European institutions, and supports the language training of our staff and students. This project has boosted the expansion of the “International Semesters” offer with teaching entirely in English by creating new semesters in the School of Law and the School of Telecommunications Engineering. It has also allowed us to develop the Internationalization at Home strategy by attracting professionals from companies and professors from our partner institutions in other countries, who have offered a different approach to teaching and, in many cases, another language. It is of great importance the mobility of our students who carry out a period of recognized studies and/or internships, for the academic and linguistic enrichment and for the personal maturity they acquire, which results in their better employability. This is very important in the region of Castilla y León, with one of the highest youth unemployment rates in Europe. The mobility of teaching staff is essential to strengthen and consolidate collaborative relationships with other institutions, which will lead to the development of joint research projects. Likewise, we have promoted the mobility of the PTGAS, which has facilitated the improvement of skills in other languages necessary for the development of their work and to achieve the modernization of management, either by attending training weeks or by visiting partner universities. We have also managed to meet one of the priority objectives in the Uva's strategy, which is the establishment of double degrees and the maintenance of existing ones, which has been possible thanks to ERASMUS+ funding for professors for the preparation and supervision, where appropriate, of double degree agreements and mobility grants for students participating in these double degree projects. It is also noteworthy the support that this project has given to the realization of theses with “International Mention” and in co-tutelage with partner universities inside and outside Europe. With this project we have financed 16 mobilities for the realization of thesis co-supervision.
