Objectives

In recent years, IES Condesa Eylo, a public school located in Valladolid, has been committed to continuous improvement of its educational program, oriented toward quality, inclusion, and openness to Europe. In this context, the Erasmus+ Program has been a key tool for advancing the school's greater internationalization and providing its faculty with opportunities for professional and personal development in a European environment. Participation in Erasmus+ arose in response to a real need identified among the faculty: to broaden horizons, exchange best practices with other educational systems, and acquire new methodologies that respond to the challenges of the 21st century. Furthermore, the need to strengthen the linguistic and digital competence of teachers was identified, as well as to strengthen the school's European dimension so that learning would also reach students, directly or indirectly. Over the last two academic years, IES Condesa Eylo has developed an ambitious Erasmus+ project that has enabled a total of 21 mobility projects to be carried out in different European countries. These mobilities have included both job shadowing activities and structured training courses in key areas that will later have an impact on our students. The participating staff has been composed primarily of students and faculty who teach in the Advanced Level Course in Socio-Sports Animation and the Advanced Level Course in Physical Conditioning, which is beginning its first academic year at the institute. From the outset, the project was designed with a strategic focus, seeking not only to improve the individual skills of students and faculty, but also to achieve institutional transformation. Mechanisms were established to ensure the fair and transparent selection of participating faculty, pedagogical monitoring of the mobilities, and the internal and external dissemination of the results obtained. The experience has contributed to generating a climate of collaboration, openness, and continuous improvement, aligned with the core values of the Erasmus+ program. It has also strengthened the foundations for building European collaboration networks in the medium and long term, which can translate into new learning opportunities for the entire educational community. IES Condesa Eylo believes this project has been a fundamental step in its journey toward a more innovative, inclusive, and European education. One of the project's key general objectives was to enhance students' comprehensive growth through placements in European educational centers. Through these placements, students were able to learn about other forms of teaching, share experiences with young people from other countries, observe different educational practices, and reflect on their own role in a global context. This immersion allowed them to develop linguistic, intercultural, social, and personal skills, as well as strengthen their academic motivation. Another of the most relevant objectives was to improve teacher training through placement experiences in European contexts. The goal was for teachers to acquire new pedagogical, methodological, and digital skills that they could apply in the classroom, fostering a more active, innovative, and inclusive teaching-learning process. Educational digitalization was another central objective. In a changing environment like the current one, the development of teachers' digital competence was considered essential. Following the pandemic, the pedagogical use of technology became a priority, and Erasmus+ provided an ideal context for advancing this goal. The project also aimed to strengthen students' communicative competence in foreign languages, promoting their use in real-life contexts of interaction and collaboration. Erasmus+ offered students the opportunity to practice English (primarily because the mobility projects took place in English-speaking countries: Malta, Finland, and so on) in authentic situations, both in the classroom and in social and cultural activities, which contributed to improving their fluency, confidence, and attitude toward language learning. Another relevant objective was to foster a critical spirit, European awareness, and young people's active participation in society. Through exposure to other educational systems, with their values and priorities, students were able to reflect on key issues such as sustainability, digitalization, human rights, and cultural diversity. These experiences strengthened their analytical skills and provided them with tools to contribute more actively and responsibly to their local and European communities. Finally, the project's overall objective was to strengthen the center's organizational capacities.
