Objectives

This project was the first of significant financial scope received by the institution and the first in which we independently implemented the student mobility (SM) modality as a university. Therefore, one of the fundamental objectives was to carry out a project with the highest possible standards of quality, offering as many opportunities as possible not only to students but also to teaching and administrative staff, as had already been customary. In general terms, our main purpose was to promote the internationalisation of the institution, providing participants with an experience that would enable them to enhance their professional, personal, and linguistic skills. For students in particular, the aim was to strengthen their ability to adapt and thrive in an international environment beyond the context they are familiar with, which is of great value for their future professional integration. At the same time, we sought to reinforce the institutional positioning through the creation and consolidation of partnerships with universities and companies, which in turn open new opportunities for collaboration in research and joint projects. Another important objective was to work in line with the programme’s principles, by fostering mobilities where aspects such as sustainability and environmental awareness were taken into consideration—something that, in design-related programmes such as ours, is fortunately common within project-based learning, collaborations, and formats like BIPs, as well as throughout the academic semesters. The institution was also interested, in alignment with its strategic plan, in ensuring greater student participation, making the project more inclusive. For this reason, an additional goal was to explore the blended mobility modality, with or without BIPs. Likewise, regarding staff mobility, another objective was to encourage participants to use their stays to explore future avenues of cooperation. Finally, there was a strong interest in optimising the percentage of international mobilities allowed, in order to expand our networks and to further qualify experiences that had already been taking place, now reinforced by these valuable financial resources.
