Objectives

Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) has participated in the Erasmus+ programme since 1987 and, over more than three decades, has consolidated it as a cornerstone of its internationalisation strategy. With this project, the UAB sought not only to expand the number of students, teaching and research staff, and administrative staff undertaking mobility, but also to ensure that these experiences met objectives of quality, inclusion, and institutional transformation. The project was conceived as a tool to promote the acquisition of academic, professional, linguistic, and intercultural competences, thereby strengthening participants’ employability, European citizenship, and civic engagement. At the same time, it aimed to consolidate cooperation with strategic partner universities, diversify mobility modalities and destinations, and place internationalisation at the heart of university life, contributing to the multicultural dynamism of the campus. In addition, the UAB expected the project to encourage the participation of students and staff with fewer opportunities, to strengthen the links between teaching, research, and innovation, and to create synergies with the priorities of the European Union, particularly in sustainability, digitalisation, and inclusion. In doing so, the project aspired for its impact to go beyond the direct beneficiaries and extend to the entire university community, enriching the institution’s academic and social experience.
