Objectives

As part of the Autonomous University of Madrid, La Salle has been operating under its Erasmus+ charter for the last 30 years. The introduction of the EWP program by the European Union has presented us with an opportunity: to apply for our own Erasmus+ Charter and become autonomous in the management and financing of the program. The Erasmus Charter E MADRID235 has marked a turning point in the Center's mobility. The Erasmus+ 2023 project has been the second in which we have developed Erasmus+ mobility in a completely autonomous manner, thus consolidating a radical change in the organization of mobility and sub-processes initiated during the 2022 project (new decision-making processes by the CSEU La Salle Internationalization Commission, replacing the Autonomous University of Madrid, changes in the area of human and financial resources, technological adaptation, adaptation to new calls for applications, and new responsibilities acquired with the Erasmus+). In addition, CSEU La Salle has taken advantage of the opportunities offered by direct dialogue with SEPIE through the development of new programs (combined, international dimension, etc.). During this project, the amount to be executed was 50% higher than the previous project, which posed a new challenge. To provide some context, it should be noted that the 2021-25 Strategic Plan for International Relations articulates its internationalization strategy around four pillars: 1. Maintain and increase international cooperation within the International Association of Lasallian Universities (IALU) worldwide and the Comenius Association in Europe. 2. Promote an international culture on campus. 3. Promote international staff mobility. 4. Promote international student mobility. The Erasmus+ Program plays a central role in the development of the actions derived from these four pillars and developed in the 2022 project: 1.1. Continue collaborating with partner universities at research, innovation, joint projects, etc. 1.2. Facilitate awareness of the La Salle University Center's proposal within the organizations of which we are a part 2.1. Internationalize the curriculum through virtual mobility 2.2. Involve more foreign participants on campus (staff and students) 3.1. Promote a plan to create international networks with the Faculty of Health Sciences 3.2. Schedule minimum international stays for academic staff 3.3. Hire new teachers and administrative staff, also taking linguistic criteria into account 4.1. Design a more efficient communication system 4.2. Establish student mobility objectives by faculty The target groups for mobility are undergraduate and master's students for studies and internships and academic staff for teaching or training purposes, a total of 3,100 potential beneficiaries, if we take into account outgoing and incoming students and virtual, face-to-face, and home mobility. The following quantitative objectives are proposed, based on the 2019-20 academic year, which was taken as a reference for the Erasmus+ Charter application, with the 2023 project being the second in a long journey: In terms of the number of beneficiaries of physical mobility, the international relations department managed a total of 111 places in 2019-20 and 307 places in 2023-24. The Faculty of Education had an outgoing mobility rate of 4% of enrolled students (2019-20), and we expected to reach a mobility rate of 6% of enrolled students in 2024. The outgoing mobility rate of the Faculty of Health was 1% of enrolled students (2019-20), and we expected to reach 3% in 2024. The target has been met for Education but not for Health, despite the fact that virtual mobility in this faculty has involved 12% of the student body. With regard to mobility outside Europe, only 10% of outgoing mobility chose a university outside Europe as their destination (2019-20). The inclusion of universities from non-Erasmus partner countries has increased interest among students and staff and, therefore, we expected to double mobility by 2024. The goal has been achieved and multiplied sixfold. We have prioritized students with fewer opportunities, focusing on sustainability throughout the process, in line with our plan Campusparatod@s, which aims to educate citizens with a global awareness committed to equality, poverty eradication, and sustainable development. Finally, if we focus on staff, only four teachers (5% of the workforce) participated in the 2019-20 academic year. We planned for 10% mobility (20 employees) for the 2024 academic year, which has been more than achieved. In terms of incoming students, our goal for 2025 was to reach all La Salle students using the COIL methodology and physical mobility, with 75 people in 2024. Although this goal was achieved in the 2022-23 academic year, it has not been met in 2023-24. Virtual activity has declined considerably (COIL, mirror classes, etc.) in recent years.
