Objectives

The Universidad Europea de Canarias (UEC) aimed to further consolidate and expand its internationalization strategy, building on the achievements of the 2022 project and setting more ambitious new goals. In the previous project (2022), the institution successfully managed a budget of €106,915 (€104,179 declared), while in the 2023 project, a more than doubled grant was secured, totaling €225,761 (€213,568 executed). The university’s efficient absorption of this increase, without a proportional growth in the human resources of the International Relations Office, represents a significant advance in terms of management, efficiency, and institutional maturity. The main objectives in this framework were: • To increase student participation in mobility programs, with a special focus on traditionally underrepresented fields, such as Health Sciences, for which curricular adaptations were promoted to ensure credit recognition. • To boost the mobility of teaching and administrative staff, fostering the exchange of good practices, pedagogical innovation, and the integration of the team into international networks. • To improve the Erasmus experience by applying a more participatory and close-knit model, with more activities for both outgoing and incoming students, involving local students in the welcoming process, and enhancing the return experience through initiatives like the Welcome Back event. • To consolidate a digital and professionalized management of mobility, implementing tools like MoveON, which allowed for more efficient, transparent, and comparable processing with other campuses in the university group. • To strengthen the institutional network with selective agreements that provide real academic value and ensure the curricular integration of stays, prioritizing quality over quantity. • To align the institution with European priorities on inclusion, diversity, sustainability, digitalization, and civic engagement, in line with the principles of the ECHE. In summary, this project not only continued the goals set in the 2022 project but also demonstrated the UEC’s ability to scale and professionalize internationalization, effectively managing a much larger budget while consolidating a model that ensures both growth in mobility volume and substantial improvements in quality.
