Campus Iberus is the strategic alliance of the Universities of Zaragoza, Public University of Navarre, Lleida, and La Rioja, which in 2012 established the Campus Iberus Consortium as a common structure to implement the actions of its Strategic Plan. Among its main objectives is to provide training that responds to the challenges of knowledge and the needs of society. In this context, collaboration with companies and European higher education institutions is considered essential. With this project, Campus Iberus aimed to: Contribute to the comprehensive training of students by complementing their theoretical learning with practical experience. Foster the development of technical, methodological, personal, and transversal competences. Offer professional and academic experiences that facilitate employability and improve career prospects. Promote the values of innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship. Campus Iberus obtained its first accreditation as a mobility consortium in 2014 and was renewed in 2017. It is currently composed of nine organizations: Campus Iberus as coordinator, the four member universities, and their university–enterprise foundations, which act as managing agents of mobility programmes. This project focused on two main areas: Doctoral student mobilities for internships and stays related to their studies, both in companies and in universities and research centres across Europe. Since September 2016, it has been carried out in collaboration with the doctoral schools, which had expressed the strong interest of their students in such international experiences. The results showed a high level of satisfaction among participants. Moreover, the initiative contributed to an increase in the number of international distinctions in doctoral theses, enhancing the internationalisation of both doctoral candidates and their supervisors through the consolidation of networks and collaborations with European partners. Training of university staff in collaboration with companies and universities. Campus Iberus brings together more than 1,000 researchers across 49 inter-university groups formalised in five research areas. Through the call launched within this project, staff linked to these groups were able to strengthen their European networks, improve their training, and increase their participation in international projects. The high demand—always exceeding the number of available grants—and the satisfaction of participants confirm the success of this initiative. In this call, an exceptional line was launched for doctoral students, enabling three-month research stays at universities in Mexico and Colombia with which Campus Iberus universities hold collaboration agreements. The aim of this initiative was to strengthen internationalisation with Latin America and to support doctoral candidates in obtaining the international mention in their theses. A total of six mobilities were allocated, of which four took place in Colombia and two in Mexico. Overall, the project has had a very positive impact. It has strengthened ties among the organisations that make up the mobility consortium, improving coordination and communication for future calls and other joint projects. In addition, it has given visibility and recognition to the aggregation model of the four public universities that constitute Campus Iberus, consolidating this mobility consortium as one of the strategic pillars of the Campus of International Excellence.
