Our school is a secondary school that offers Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO), Baccalaureate (A-levels), and Vocational Training at basic, intermediate, and advanced level. It is located in a small inland village in the province of Castelló with about 2,000 inhabitants, and it also has students from other smaller municipalities in the region. This is a rural area with an aging population and very few opportunities to travel for both students and staff in order to develop their academic, cultural, and personal skills. For this reason, since 2014, our organization has been committed to carrying out eTwinning projects and Erasmus+ mobility as a way to motivate students and staff to broaden their knowledge of other European countries and to establish networks with schools similar to ours. In addition, we also aim to spread among the school community and the local population a vision of Europe as a symbol of opportunities in both professional and personal development. By achieving these objectives, we promote a more comprehensive education and prepare the school community to face the challenges of an interconnected world. Before applying for the grants, we organize talks with students and teachers in order to make a more accurate forecast for the call. In the previous application, no student wanted to take part in mobility for internships, so our main goal that time was to encourage students to understand the great personal and professional opportunity that participation in these projects could bring them. Therefore, for the 2023 call, we applied for two mobility grants for staff training and four for students. In the end, the project was a great success among students (with more demand than expected), and five students were able to participate in internship mobility. The objectives of student mobility were: to contribute to their professional development (intellectual, social, entrepreneurial, and teamwork skills, among others) and personal growth (improving foreign language proficiency, enhancing social skills, increasing autonomy, broadening cultural knowledge, etc.) through internships related to administrative work in companies. The objectives of staff mobility were: to learn about the organization of the host institution and its academic programmes with special attention to Business Administration and Finance, to share teaching methodologies and resources as well as strategies to promote inclusion and ICT integration into language teaching, to analyse employability opportunities and professional development in other EU countries broadening students’ international perspective, and to visit Irish companies to learn about their operations and establish professional contacts for future student internships. Therefore, the Erasmus+ staff mobility aimed not only to make a significant contribution to teachers’ professional development, but also to generate a transformative impact on students.
