Objectives

The project aimed to strengthen the capacity of educators and organisations to engage and support NEETs and ELETs by enhancing their pedagogical, social, and digital competences. Specifically, it sought to (1) build a transnational cooperation network between partners in Spain, Belgium, and Türkiye; (2) increase teachers’ knowledge and confidence in working with disadvantaged learners; (3) design and test innovative training tools and methodologies; (4) promote European-level networking and peer learning among educators; and (5) raise awareness among teachers, policymakers, and the public about the challenges and opportunities linked to NEETs and ELETs. The ultimate goal was to empower adult educators with practical, inclusive strategies to re-engage learners and contribute to a more equitable and socially cohesive Europe.

Background

The project We NEET You! was conceived in response to the growing need to support educators working with NEETs (young people not in employment, education, or training) and ELETs (early leavers from education and training). Teachers, trainers, and adult educators often lack specific competences, methodologies, and digital tools to engage these vulnerable groups effectively. The consortium identified a strong demand for professional development opportunities, peer exchange, and innovative teaching strategies that foster inclusion and lifelong learning. The project also addressed the need for better cooperation between formal and non-formal education sectors and for practical resources in English and other European languages that can be used internationally. Through transnational collaboration, the partners aimed to respond to these shared European challenges and improve educators’ capacity to prevent social and educational exclusion.
