This project aimed to bridge the digital divide by addressing the urgent need for digital literacy among families at risk of exclusion. By equipping parents and proffessionals with the necessary skills, the project ensured that children could fully participate in digital education without being disadvantaged due to their family’s socioeconomic background, and also adults could improve their digital skills and therefore improve their curriculum development and access to the labor market. Through the implementation of the project, it was expected to generate a real impact on the lives of children and families in vulnerable situations in Greece, Turkey and Spain, promoting inclusion and diversity through the improvement of the digital competencies of professionals, children and families. It was expected the development of a practican guide for proffesionals as a guideline and tool to work effectively with families, promoting a safe and respectful use of internet, using a piloting and testing with the beneficiary population in order to generate useful and participatory material.
The limitation of digital skills had been identified as a vulnerability factor for adults and children, on the one hand because it is a key tool for the educational development of children and on the other hand, as a basic competence for a quality labour market access. The consortium of partners, as entities with experience in working with families in vulnerable situations and at risk of exclusion, had experienced the increase of inequality in the educational development of children due to the lack of resources and digital knowledge of parents, aggravated by the consequences of Covid, which meant an increase in the use of digital tools in schools. Professionals from the entities pointed out the need to generate resources from a participatory approach with dynamic actions that would allow the inclusion of digital tools in the daily life of families. In addition, the entities were interested in strengthening European cooperation through the Erasmus program, with the aim of improving the quality of work of the organizations and the network of European contacts.
