Background

In the last two years there were remarkable changes in the educational process as digital learning became a ubiquitous part of the school lexicon. To face the challenges of learning how to navigate in today’s digitally connected world, it was important that the educational community should develop meaningful ways to make responsible digital citizens by providing tangible digital resilience tools. The emphasis had so far been on safety behaviors and avoidance, a practice which is no more effective as our students’ lives are digital by default. It was becoming increasingly important for both students and teachers to grow our Adaptability Quotient (AQ)- the ability to face and adjust to challenges of a constantly changing educational environment in which digital competencies are a sine qua non. Competent versus ethical citizen participation online is an issue that emerged after the extensive use of digital means during the lockdowns. As educators, we thought we should try to re-engage our disenchanted students in civic life by organizing activities that are not strictly for raising learning standards. (Civic engagement and participation) All the objectives are in accordance with the Digital Education Action Plan (2021-2027).
