The main objective of the project was to enable cooking schools to introduce sustainability into their classrooms by creating a sustainability plan adapted to each school. From there, we had the following objectives: - Recognize the importance of education to achieve sustainable development. - Promote sustainability as a key element for quality education. - Collaborate to adopt common guidelines for the inclusion of sustainability in schools. - Take a first step to change the current model and adopt one based on environmental sustainability. - Transmit this new sustainable culture to students and school staff through interactive activities.
We requested this project because of our interest in improving sustainability knowledge, and the implementation of a sustainability plan that would be appropriate for our organizations. Specifically, we wanted to address these needs: - We felt there was an opportunity to strengthen the approach to sustainability within educational institutions, especially those related to cooking or the HoReCa sector. - We felt there were ways to bring sustainability into the classroom, both through students and teachers. - We felt that there was a need to provide a tool that could be integrated into schools regardless of their size or possibilities; that was malleable, and at the same time, that would allow schools to introduce sustainability without having to hire outside help if they could not afford it. - We felt it was necessary for the staff of the centers to also be interested in understanding sustainability and how to apply it, and thus expand and maintain the tools created by the project.
