Objectives

The WOMEN UP project's overall objective was to promote the social and professional inclusion of vulnerable women by developing key skills and strengthening career guidance systems. Specifically, the project aimed to guarantee these women's access to education and training opportunities tailored to their personal and social circumstances. Furthermore, the project sought to improve the employability of vulnerable women by developing transversal, personal, and professional skills aligned with current labor market demands. Another key objective was to train adult educators and social organizations, providing them with high-quality, up-to-date training resources based on the European LifeComp framework. Finally, WOMEN UP aspired to create a structured career guidance program that could be implemented in different European contexts, contributing to the sustainability and transferability of the project's results beyond its duration.

Background

The WOMEN UP project was launched to address a persistent social and employment problem in Europe: the exclusion of vulnerable women from the labor market and education and training systems. Specifically, the project focused on women with fewer opportunities, such as single mothers, migrant women, and refugees, who face structural barriers such as a lack of key skills, difficulties balancing work and family life, a lack of knowledge about the labor market, and limited access to career guidance services tailored to their needs. The consortium identified a significant lack of specific educational resources and career guidance programs aimed at both these women and the professionals who work with them. Furthermore, the project recognized a need to strengthen the skills of adult educators so they could provide more effective, inclusive, and up-to-date support. WOMEN UP was created with the aim of reducing these gaps, promoting equal opportunities, and contributing to fairer and more sustainable social and employment integration.
