Objectives

The main objective of the project is to develop an innovative and empirically tested educational framework for intergenerational learning in order to support the EU's digital and green transition. The specific objectives are: SO1: Contribute to the EU's digital policy strategy by supporting the capacity of young people across Europe to transfer their digital skills and knowledge to other generations. SO2: Contribute to the EU’s green transition policy aims by supporting the capacity of seniors across Europe to teach traditional sustainable practices to other generations. SO3: Develop and test an educational framework based on youth-seniors joint action, which will propose local solutions related to the EU’s twin transition. SO4: Raise awareness of the challenges and opportunities of transitioning to the future and bridge the socioepistemic gap between generations. To achieve these objectives, a series of intergenerational co-creation and co-design activities have been carried out, resulting in: 1) learning materials for education training; 2) learning materials on topics specific to the twin transition; 3) a handbook for the development of intergenerational activities; 4) an e-book compiling the good practices discovered.

Background

On the one hand, among the challenges facing today's societies, and in particular the member countries of the European Union, are the fight against climate change and nature conservation and digital transformation, which has come to be known as the dual ecological and digital transition. On the other hand, there is a gap between younger and older generations that is reflected in policies aimed at each group. Efforts are being made to reduce this gap with specific plans such as the European Pillar of Social Rights Action Plan. However, there are few concrete proposals and experiences that address intergenerational learning in the context of the dual ecological and digital transition. The Intergenic project proposes the design, creation and implementation/testing of an intergenerational educational framework that addresses the problems posed by the dual ecological and digital transition, designed and developed through the joint work of groups of young people (target group 1, TG1) and adults (target group 2, TG2), and which will serve as a model for organisations involved in adult education (target group 3, TG3).
