Objectives

The Self-SDG project aimed to strengthen Education for Sustainable Development through the development of an innovative digital tool aligned with the 2030 Agenda. To this end, four operational objectives were established: - To carry out innovative research on learning processes and adherence to sustainable behaviors, addressing educational, social, and environmental dimensions. - To design a reference matrix, similar to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL), structuring levels of commitment and serving as a methodological foundation. - To develop a gamified mobile application, incorporating social media elements and a dynamic user experience, enabling self-assessment and proposing challenges at school, at home, and within the community. - To disseminate both the issues associated with climate change and the tool created, ensuring maximum impact within the educational community of the consortium and beyond. The project sought to move from theoretical awareness to the effective measurement and improvement of individual commitment, generating tangible impact and contributing to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda and the Education for Sustainable Development.

Background

The Self-SDG project was submitted to address a strategic need identified within the European Educational Context: to effectively advance Education for Sustainable Development and contribute to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda. Its main purpose was to develop a mobile application enabling users to self-assess their level of commitment to the 17 SDGs and promote real behavioral change. The identified need was twofold: there was a gap between theoretical knowledge of the SDGs and the practical transformation of attitudes, and the education system faced the challenge of integrating sustainability in a transversal and measurable way, particularly as the LOMLOE set 2025 as the target year for teacher training in this field. The project provided an innovative digital tool, based on progressive challenges, aimed at measuring and improving commitment. For IES Cristóbal de Monroy and Fundación Avantia, the initiative reinforced their strategic commitment to sustainability, aligning with European priorities and expanding their educational and social impact.
