Background

The P.IR.A.M.iD project was designed to address the growing need for intercultural competences in contexts where people from diverse cultural backgrounds interact, particularly in tourism. This need was already clear at the project’s start and has proven even more urgent today, as multiculturalism continues to increase due to international migration and globalization. VET students, teachers, and companies often face challenges in managing cultural differences, yet these skills are still rarely included in formal training. P.IR.A.M.iD consortium aimed to create a collaborative framework for recognizing, measuring, and developing intercultural skills. Using an inclusive adaptation of the Lewis Model, we developed learning paths combining observation, experience, and practical exercises. By involving students, teachers, and companies, the project contributes to apply intercultural competences in real-world situations. “Through this approach, P.IR.A.M.iD addressed a confirmed and growing need, equipping learners and professionals to navigate diverse work and learning environments while fostering respectful, socially and environmentally aware practices.
