The main objective of the ID Teachers was to empower VET practitioners to successfully transition into digital education by equipping them with the necessary skills, pedagogies, and tools to design and deliver effective learner-centred micro-learning experiences. Specifically, the project aimed to enhance educators’ competences in instructional design, promote the use of innovative methodologies such as edutainment and micro-learning, and strengthen their ability to respond to the needs of digital learners. Additionally, the project sought to improve learning outcomes, increase learner engagement, and provide flexible learning opportunities accessible anytime and anywhere. Another key objective was to foster collaboration among European partners and stakeholders, creating a shared knowledge base and promoting innovation in VET. Ultimately, the project also aimed to develop practical solutions, including digital tools and training programmes, to support continuous professional development and ensure long-term impact through dissemination, exploitation, and sustainability strategies.
ID Teachers project was conceived in response to the growing need for VET practitioners to adapt to the digital transformation of education. Despite increased efforts following COVID-19, many educators still lacked the practical skills, methodologies, and tools required to design effective and engaging digital learning experiences. Existing challenges included limited guidance on implementing online and blended learning, difficulties in adapting content and assessment to digital environments, and a gap in pedagogical approaches tailored to digital learners. At the same time, learners’ expectations were evolving towards more interactive, flexible, and multimedia-based formats. The project addressed these needs by focusing on micro-learning, learner-centred approaches, and instructional design, as a method to enhance educators’ digital readiness and capacity. It also responded to European priorities on digital education and innovation in VET by supporting teachers in developing competences aligned with frameworks such as DigCompEdu, ultimately contributing to more inclusive, engaging, and effective digital learning ecosystems.
