Objectives

The young people from participating countries faced issues related to employment. They identified a lack of skills for job applications and struggled to find suitable job opportunities, sending relevant job applications that could result in successful employment. Our target groups had low levels of self-awareness, lacked interpersonal skills, and received poor training in career guidance. They were unable to stand out in job interviews and break the biases related to their employment, making young people more pessimistic towards their professional development and successful employment. They needed a space where they could freely discuss their problems, exchange ideas, and receive guidance and support on how to improve their employability skills. With this project, we brought together 31 participants from program countries and partners to clarify their unemployment issues and exchange their experiences on how to increase their competencies to successfully obtain employment. Our participants explored employment concepts; exchanged ideas; identified similar problems, and explored solutions that could help them find jobs. Our activities provided non-formal and informal learning experiences to drive relevant skills development. More specifically, our specific objectives were: To delve deeper into the issues of youth unemployment in participating countries To create an international space to discuss and improve career-related competencies To help participants increase their level of self-awareness and develop their strengths and weaknesses To learn more about career development, profession, and raise awareness about employment concepts To enable young people to develop job search and application skills, especially those facing economic, social, educational, and geographical obstacles To promote equal opportunities and break stereotypes related to employment To respect the principle of inclusion and diversity and promote tolerance and solidarity regarding employment. The project idea originated during the implementation of our previous Youth Exchange project. We identified the need and issues related to youth employment and the development of their job skills. Our consortium of partners continued to collaborate. We decided to give an international dimension to our new idea; exchange practices and generate a greater impact. We had partners from various geographic locations. Each brought unique experience and motivation to solve unemployment issues. We gathered 31 participants; conducted international mobility, and disseminated our results through our dissemination channels to help other groups of young people benefit from our project.
