Objectives

Our organization is dedicated to volunteer work aimed at transforming society, based on the rights of children and the protection of human rights through non-formal education. We believe that young people should be the protagonists of their own learning and the decisions that impact their daily lives. The current social context poses challenges for the youth population, including concerns about mental health, economic instability, the climate crisis, and multiple obstacles to emancipation. In the reality in which we operate, educational associationism plays a political role, empowering young individuals with skills to transform their community by fostering their protagonism in personal growth. Our commitment is to shape critical and engaged citizens capable of actively and constructively participating in their environment, acting globally while maintaining a global perspective. Recent years and their social and political circumstances have significantly influenced the participation and development of young people. In light of this situation, Esplais Catalans, following the steps of previous years, aimed to conduct a youth exchange to strengthen the role of young individuals beyond their organizations. The goal was to have a multiplier effect, impacting their return to their community, and through their contributions, presence, and best practices, influencing those of their peers. This year's edition focused on solutions and actions to transform reality, addressing global justice issues such as the climate emergency and the defense of human rights. These topics were chosen based on identified needs, including giving voice to young people, addressing their concerns, ensuring inclusive participation, and creating inclusive youth spaces. Furthermore, the exchange format allows for the opening of international and intercultural horizons, breaking down prejudices, and fostering mutual enrichment. This work aligns with the efforts made by our association in recent years, as we have been strongly involved in Global Justice Education, promoting the defense of fundamental rights, countering discrimination, and raising awareness about the climate crisis.
