Youth Volunteering in Europe seeks to encourage young Europeans to recognise the significance of solidarity and volunteer initiatives. It also aims to promote their active engagement in discussions and forums where they recognise their role as members of the European community. They aim to find solutions to critical challenges facing our continent, such as gender equality, environmental protection, climate change, demographic issues and youth unemployment. In essence, the goal is to install in young people a sense of social responsibility to their community and the goals being pursued, including the SDGs, documents such as the Green Deal and the New European Bauhaus, etc. With these principles in mind, the Municipality of Villalar de los Comuneros, as part of the Emperor Charles V European Routes Cooperation Network, is excited to organise a youth exchange program. Through non-formal education methods and creative interactions among young Europeans, this initiative aims to improve participants' understanding of their future role as European citizens. It also seeks to increase their involvement in volunteer and solidarity projects. This project is expected to build on previous initiatives in Villalar de los Comuneros and align with the framework formed by various international mobility programs supported by the European Union under Erasmus+. The current state of the European continent, marked by active conflicts such as that in Ukraine, underscores the urgency of addressing the various challenges affecting the European community. It underscores the need for an active volunteer force to improve social conditions on our continent. Involving young people involved in solving local problems and helping those in need is becoming increasingly vital. Participation in such initiatives not only enriches individuals personally, but also contributes to their professional development by promoting values such as dedication and responsibility. It also promotes cultural exchange, language acquisition and knowledge that can be applied in their daily lives. The opportunity to conduct an exchange program under Erasmus+ amplifies the impact of volunteering and the culture associated with it. Young people from six European countries will directly benefit from the knowledge and experience gained during this exchange, in addition to the cultural enrichment of spending time with their peers. However, the benefits extend beyond them as well, as the general population is expected to benefit indirectly from the youth's work. This initiative also promotes cooperation, cohesion and participation of young people in addressing current socioeconomic and other challenges. The objectives envisaged by SOLIDEU include: Deepen understanding of the meaning of solidarity in volunteerism and how it contributes to personal growth and the well-being of society. To encourage the active participation of young people in addressing Europe's key challenges, including equality, environmental protection, demography and the Sustainable Development Goals. Promote the involvement of young people in volunteer projects. Enhance intercultural competencies by providing participants with opportunities to collaborate with young people from different countries and cultures. Promote intercultural understanding and diversity by bringing together young people from diverse backgrounds and providing them with a platform to share their perspectives and experiences. Enhance youth leadership and decision-making skills through various volunteer activities.
