The oceans are in the worst condition they have ever been in. Plastic pollution is covering the ocean floor and fishing industries are draining marine resources while spreading huge amounts of waste. Our oceans contain 99% of the planet's living space, our atmosphere and climate depend on them. So we must rethink the way we interact with the oceans. The blue economy provides a roadmap for marrying economic growth with sustainability. We don't remember the oceans enough, but our well-being is intrinsically linked to the sea, three-quarters of the world's megacities are located on the coast, and the oceans provide coastal communities with food and minerals while generating oxygen and absorbing greenhouse gas emissions. Taking into account these principles of the Blue Economy and the conditions in which we find ourselves, the associations of this project have decided to create "Blue Opportunities" which from now on we will refer to as "Blue-Opps". The associations that have come together to create this project have something in common, which are the direct effects of oceanic problems in our cities since we belong to coastal areas or are directly involved in this cause. This project aims to raise awareness among young people in Europe of the importance of protecting our oceans and the social and economic problem of poor ocean maintenance today. It also aims to inform about the actions that can be taken to promote ocean protection and active citizen participation, the rational use of natural resources and the search for solutions to the problems we face today and for the future. The objectives of this project are clear; Promote and raise awareness among young people of the social and economic dangers that are increasing on our coasts due to various factors such as overexploitation, pollution, misuse of resources and the poor sustainability of the current system. Increase and promote youth employment since for several years the youth unemployment rate has been increasing and opportunities are scarce and precarious. Promote types of jobs connected to islands or coastal areas. Increase the skills needed for certain types of jobs in coastal areas through various competencies. Throughout this project participants will gain different competencies that will help them to have a new perspective on our oceans, youth employment and how to participate in their protection. Through different activities that will help to create a digital campaign that will then serve as a reference in good practices for future generations on the Blue Economy and the good use of resources. These are the 8 key competences of the Erasmus + program. The key competences are those that all people need for their personal development, employability, social inclusion and active citizenship. These competences will be acquired throughout your life, through formal, non-formal and informal education experiences (such as this trip). We have decided to bet on this type of projects because we believe that they are a turning point for young people and can be something that can completely change their lives as it has done with many of us. We strongly believe in the values of the Erasmus + program and its priorities on inclusion and diversity. We are also fully in favor of the digital transformation, which has been seen to be totally necessary and is a great asset today. the need for the development of a high-performing digital education ecosystem, by building capacity and fostering critical understanding and training on how to take advantage of the opportunities offered by digital technologies for teaching and learning at all levels and sectors. We are also in favor of the environmental plan and the fight against climate change, which is a key priority for us and for the European Union, so we will keep in mind the European Green Pact and its strategy for the transition to climate neutrality by 2050. In this way the Blue-Opps project is committed to a project on environment and economy while promoting digital transformation in all its phases and also supporting the process of inclusion and diversity in the selection of project participants.
