In recent decades, significant progress has been made in the rights and legal protection of LGTBI individuals, but true equality has yet to be achieved. Discrimination in all areas—particularly in the workplace—remains a reality, with high unemployment rates and frequent assaults reflecting persistent discrimination based on sexual orientation and/or gender identity or expression. Despite the progress made, both global and national studies and reports have shown that these forms of discrimination are not isolated incidents, but deeply rooted problems present in various spheres such as the workplace, society, and education. In response to this context, and recognizing that cisheteronormativity still prevails as the dominant norm, our project #LoveIsLove was conceived and carried out in Madrid, a community renowned for its diversity and inclusion. This project aligned with the themes and guidelines of the Erasmus+ National Agency, focusing on the creation of a fairer society, the promotion of diversity, interculturality, dialogue, tolerance, and respect for human rights. The objectives were clear: to increase the competency levels of young people, promote intercultural dialogue and social inclusion, and strengthen the international dimension of youth sector activities. This was achieved through the collaboration of all participating associations, with a special focus on the Madrid community. The project not only addressed direct and indirect discrimination, mistake-based discrimination, associative and multiple discrimination, retaliation, and discriminatory harassment, but also fostered activism in youth work, social services, human rights, values-based education, environmental awareness, socioeconomic integration, interculturality, civic participation, training, national and international exchanges, and cultural heritage. Ultimately, #LoveIsLove contributed to inclusion as an essential requirement for the proper development of our society, in alignment with the priorities of the Erasmus+ National Agency.
