Objectives

The "Young, Wild and Free" project was the response of all associated organizations to the disconnection suffered by human beings from natural environments and the need to get closer to them to understand ecosystem processes, increasing the capacity for self-knowledge and the management of natural environments. The main objective of the project was to improve the relationship between natural environments and urban youth. All partners, youth organizations and associations from Italy, Armenia, Poland, and Spain, had observed that young people lacked knowledge, skills, and tools to know and deal with environmental environments. As a result, they did not know the rules of nature and the processes that were followed in it, therefore, they did not enjoy it in a playful way, focusing on leisure activities in urban environments. The team gathered feedback and insights from our partner organizations and by using the problem-solving tree method, we found our common needs that we would address with this project. The specific objectives of this project were to increase the awareness of young people about their environmental impact, help them relate in a different way with nature and with themselves, learn more about the origin, help the participants to express themselves publicly with greater security, open their minds to other topics of interest and create alliances with people from different places, ideas, and cultures. Support the participants in finding their enormous potential that they were sometimes not yet able to see and encourage them to speak up and take action along with their social values. By implementing this project, it was hoped to support them in this learning path, not only environmental but also personal, boost their own potential, as well as empower them to become proactive members of society. Our objective was to provide them with tools to establish personal and social goals and realize their internal motivation and potential that would allow them to be more aware of nature, the environment, their own influence on it, and to disclose what they had learned, a social, realistic approach, and adapted to the changing times we live in. Through dynamic activities in nature, personal reflections, and recognition of the learning process, it was expected to achieve the objectives of the project, at the same time, creating a safe space for the participating people to exchange opinions and points of view in an intercultural environment and multilingual, which, in turn, would increase the awareness of the participants about diverse cultures and different perspectives on the subject of the project and other interests that they would share between themselves and the facilitators themselves.
