Objectives

The idea of this project is the result of the experience of young people. The partners of this partnership have been working with young people for years (some more and some less) and agree that in recent years there has been a convulsive situation due to the various crises, the covid-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine. “Embracing YOUth” has been created to provide young people with the skills and knowledge about personal development, self-awareness, tolerance, resilience, inclusion, communication and empathy to transform themselves and bring about social change. Through the combination of non-formal education activities, Argentine tango and mindfulness practices, participants will be encouraged and empowered to take action against discrimination, racism, sexism, harassment and exclusion and therefore become active citizens and generate social changes. The main objectives of “Embracing YOUth” are: -Integration and Social Inclusion: Dance and body movement are established as non-formal methods that are used to achieve resilience, integration and social inclusion, regardless of the gender, sexual orientation or economic power of the practitioners. Currently, the political, social and economic crises have affected young people in not having a feeling of belonging in society for reasons related to their origin, gender, sexual orientation, professional status or any other, which results in poor integration and participation of young people, which negatively affects their well-being. Participants will be people with fewer opportunities who face obstacles linked to the education and training system, economic obstacles, obstacles linked to discrimination and geographical obstacles. -Intercultural Learning and Dialogue: Even among the European countries there are different cultures made up of different elements. For a united Europe and a strong European identity, cultural awareness, learning and intercultural dialogue are necessary. We will dedicate time and space to see the particularities of dance processes and gender perception in each partner country, and through that we will get to know each culture and achieve understanding and cultural awareness, as well as empathy. -Teamwork and cooperation: In non-formal education, Argentine tango and mindfulness activities, self-awareness and self-knowledge are worked on a lot, which, in turn, can positively affect teamwork and cooperation. Through their self-knowledge and self-awareness, the participants and their respective organizations will develop and be able to create a network for the future implementation of similar projects both internationally and nationally. We have already involved in the drafting of the proposal the young people who will participate in the project and will be involved in all phases of the project: preparation-implementation-dissemination. -Transform participants into active citizens. Non-formal education, dance and mindfulness practices are creative ways to turn young people into active citizens. They promote cooperation, self-esteem, resilience, recognition of emotions, active listening, self-care, self-knowledge, and through their experiences, young people become aware of social issues. The project aims to promote non-formal and informal learning, intercultural dialogue and European identity, capacity development, social skills and positive attitudes of young people, and active participation among young people in social and civic life, as well as the cooperation, quality, inclusion, creativity and innovation at the level of organizations that work with youth.
