The main goal for “Mental Health First Aid Kit” was to provide youth workers with specific tools and know-hows for managing and supporting youngsters in difficult situations. In addition, it aimed to break the stigmatization of this topic and to encourage the youth workers to also take care of their own mental well-being. Moreover, it aimed to give people working with youth the basic knowledge and skills to recognise, prevent, and support youngsters in situations related with mental health. The training course and the program was based on 4 key objectives: -Recognition and Communication: One of the primary objectives was to empower youth workers with the ability to recognize signs of mental health issues in young people. By achieving this, the project sought to ensure that youth workers could identify and respond to mental health concerns promptly. Effective communication strategies were also emphasized, enabling youth workers to approach and offer professional help with sensitivity and understanding. -Mental Health First Aid: Another objective was to provide youth workers with essential knowledge and skills for offering initial intervention and support during mental health crises. This objective was rooted in the idea that by equipping youth workers with the basics of mental health first aid, they could intervene effectively in urgent situations, potentially preventing harm and providing vital support to youngsters in distress. -Group Management: To give youth workers the tools and knowledge necessary to understand the impact that a problematic situation related with mental health can have on a group. In addition it meant to practice communicating with a group of youngsters which have been affected by a mental health trauma and support the group without stigmatizing or blaming the person with mental health problems. By achieving this objective, the project aimed to create and maintain a supportive and inclusive environment for all. Self-Care: The project also placed a significant emphasis on the well-being of youth workers themselves. It recognized that working with young people facing mental health challenges can be emotionally demanding. Therefore, the objective was to provide youth workers with the essential tools and knowledge needed for self-care. By achieving this objective, the project aimed to prevent burnout among youth workers, ensuring their long-term effectiveness and well-being in their roles. By accomplishing these objectives, the project aimed to contribute to better mental health support for young people and youth workers alike.
