This project emerged with the aim of building capacity among youth workers and facilitators, to further develop their education methods and be able to respond better to youth needs and long lasting learning through graphic facilitation. The second pillar of this training was to encourage active participation and advocacy from the young generations in the sustainability movement by providing youngsters with tools for self expression and inclusive communication. Our initiative, hosted at Mas Les Vinyes, sought to intertwine the art of graphic communication with the principles of sustainable living and environmental stewardship. In line with the growing urgency for environmental awareness and visually inclusive teaching methods, our specific objectives were to: - To learn different graphic facilitation techniques - To learn how to use graphic facilitation as a tool for long lasting youth learning - To bring awareness and explore inclusive and effective ways of communication using graphic facilitation - To learn to create resources for supporting and empower youth using visuals on how to communicate among themselves and in their advocacy missions communicating in public and with wider audiences. This training course drew upon the rich variety of experiences and practices from various partner associations deeply rooted in climate awareness. Such functioning as inspiration of sustainable and regenerative living, provided a fertile ground for learning and application of graphic communication in an environmental context. Our project was not just a response to the educational needs in the realm of sustainability but also an endeavor to extend the reach of permaculture principles to a broader network. We aimed to dismantle the barriers of traditional learning methods, replacing them with more engaging, inclusive, and visually stimulating techniques. This approach was particularly transformative in addressing the challenges faced by youth in the current climate – a demographic increasingly seeking meaningful and impactful ways to contribute to the sustainability movement. In essence, "Permaculture through Graphic Facilitation" was a journey towards enhancing the capabilities of youth workers and leaders, not just as educators but as catalysts for change in the pursuit of a more sustainable and environmentally conscious world.
