Objectives

The EcoDocu project aimed to address the urgent need for environmental education and climate literacy as essential components of the global response to environmental challenges. The objectives of the project focused on empowering individuals, particularly youth workers, to understand and address issues such as climate change, pollution, deforestation, biodiversity loss, and urban development. By equipping them with skills in documentary filmmaking, the project sought to foster sustainable attitudes and actions while promoting environmental education through non-formal learning and critical thinking. The EcoDocu initiative aimed to equip youth leaders and professionals with the knowledge and abilities to effectively promote environmental education via documentary films. EcoDocu objectives included: - To give participants a chance to create audio materials for youth events and help them gain the confidence and skills necessary to lead beginner filmmaking classes for their peers. - To provide a non-formal framework for filmmaking to promote transformative learning and highlight young people's involvement in environmental education as agents of change. - To improve the filmmaking skills of youth leaders and workers and to open a dialogue between young people and youth workers to encourage international and transregional collaboration and advance environmental education through documentary filmmaking activities. - To improve storytelling and filmmaking abilities by using short documentaries to promote environmental education, foster critical thinking, and make young people more aware of environmental problems. - To construct a network that is capable of promoting environmental education and encouraging sustainable habits, as well as to increase the capacity of youth workers and leaders to engage young people in meaningful and compelling ways with global environmental challenges. - To encourage cross-cultural cooperation and understanding among youth workers and leaders from other nations and to aid in producing powerful and influential documentaries that support environmental education and sustainability. - To support non-formal education's role in developing responsible, knowledgeable citizens inspired to take action for a more sustainable future. - To contribute to the preservation and restoration of ecosystems and biodiversity. - To assist the European Commission's presence on the ground and advance its principles.
