Objectives

After discussing problems and needs related to this topic with the partner organisations, we defined the main problem which formed the base for this project: NGOs do not follow up trends in social media marketing and therefore struggle in creating impactful content for young people and achieving visibility of their work online. The project aimed to equip youth workers with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively use social media as a tool for engaging and empowering young people, and for increasing the visibility of their NGOs. We wanted to support NGOs in embracing the digital change, using it to tell their story, and making an impact online. Specific objectives of the project were: -to equip youth workers with practical knowledge and skills on how to effectively use digital content to reach and engage their target group/young people, and to increase visibility of their organisation’s work; -to understand important elements of efficient and credible online communication with young people ; -to improve skills in creating engaging digital content; -to analyse and improve personal digital brands of youth workers individually, as to improve their professional profiles; - to create strategies for improving social media communication of partner organisations; - to improve European and transnational cooperation between youth organisations and build new partnerships. The overarching goal was to empower NGOs to better utilize digital platforms for storytelling, engaging with their audience, and making a significant online impact. By doing so, the project aimed to support these organizations in navigating the challenges of limited resources, competition for attention, maintaining authenticity, and effectively engaging followers, particularly young people. As our activities were focused only on the local level (Canary Islands), this project was a first step to making a bigger impact and start developing international partnerships. We chose to develop this Erasmus+ project focused on social media content and reach for NGOs because that topic is important to the work that our organization does.
