Marbella NSC 2023 is aimed at fostering European citizenship and intercultural understanding among youth achieved its objectives through various innovative strategies: Firstly, Marbella NSC 2023 focused on enriching participants' understanding of European citizenship and knowledge of the European Institutions. This was achieved by exploring ten themes related to European issues, offering participants a deep insight into European institutions, the distinct realities of each Member State, and the foundational European values. These topics were focused on Artificial Intelligence, Culture and Education, Human Rights and Minorities, Environment, Women’s Rights, Civil Liberties, Security and Defence and Transport. They were the main drivers of the conference and designed the roadmap for the participants’ experience. This comprehensive approach played a crucial role in fostering a stronger connection and engagement with the broader concept of European identity among our participants. Secondly, it significantly advanced the dialogue between youth and policymakers. In the Town Hall activity, European, regional, and local representatives engaged in meaningful exchanges with young participants, sharing insights on active youth citizenship and the State of the EU. The project's impact extended further as resolutions from the General Assembly were sent to influential bodies like the European Parliament, European Commission, Málaga's Town Hall, and the Junta de Andalucía. This initiative aimed to elevate youth perspectives in decision-making spaces, demonstrating a commitment to integrating young voices in the policy sphere. Thirdly, Marbella NSC 2023 excelled in promoting intercultural understanding and diversity. Participants from across Spain, selected through 12 regional conferences during 2023, joined international delegations from the EYP Network, creating a rich, multicultural environment. This diversity enabled a vibrant exchange of varying perspectives, enhancing intercultural dialogue and fostering a sense of empathy and mutual understanding. The project's innovative approach is core to the purpose of the European Youth Parliament Activities. It added significant value since it brought an international dialogue hub to Marbella with multiple regions of Spain being represented. Fourthly, our project highlighted the significant role of youth volunteers in inspiring participants. These volunteers, themselves young and coming from 10+ European countries, served as exemplary role models, showcasing the impact and potential of young individuals in organising and leading successful initiatives. Their involvement was vital in demonstrating to the youth participants how young, active citizens can collaboratively develop and execute impactful projects, reinforcing the notion that age does not limit one's ability to make a meaningful contribution to society. Finally, our project introduced participants to the local community of Marbella. Combining cultural elements and the Town Hall activities, participants got to know the Andalusian Culture by exploring Marbella, enjoying Andalusian gastronomy and introducing European topics into a local landscape. It brought identity to the project and made it even more purposeful, surrounding the European Landscape with the particularities of the city. Finally, Marbella NSC 2023 underscored the essence of global teamwork and international cooperation. The project required collaboration among participants and youth volunteers from over ten European countries, demonstrating the project's expansive reach. This international cooperation, based on the European Youth Parliament network and its National Committees as partner organisations, played a critical role. We were successful in implementing a hybrid planning stage that came together in Marbella during the duration of the conference. It highlighted the effectiveness of international teamwork, showing how youth can combine cross-border cooperation for a project such as this one. Each of these strategies contributed significantly to the project's success, leaving a lasting impact on the participants and exemplifying the power of youth engagement in European matters.
