Objectives

The project's mission was to prepare youth professionals to support young people in an educational and employment context that artificial intelligence has profoundly transformed. The overall objective was to strengthen the digital, critical and ethical skills of those working in the youth field, equipping them with tools to understand, apply and explain AI from a human and participatory approach. To this end, the project set out to analyse the sector's level of knowledge about the use of algorithms in education and employment, develop two innovative training curricula using non-formal education methodologies, transform them into an accessible digital course and create a set of policy recommendations for institutional decision-makers. Through these actions, the project sought to reduce digital divides, promote the responsible and equitable use of AI, and position youth work as a key actor in building an inclusive and rights-based digital transformation.

Background

The AI4Youth project arose in response to the growing need to prepare young people for artificial intelligence's challenges in education and employment. Accelerated digitalisation is transforming the way young people learn, work and communicate, but youth professionals did not have the training or resources necessary to accompany these changes. The partners identified a lack of AI literacy programmes, limited knowledge of its ethical and employment implications, and a lack of policies that integrate the voice of young people in the digital transformation. AI4Youth responded to these gaps by creating two innovative curricula, an e-learning platform, and a set of 10 policy recommendations that strengthen the digital skills of youth workers. The project helped to reduce the knowledge gap, build confidence in the responsible use of AI, and provide practical tools to support young people in adapting to the new technological context.
