Objectives

The aim of the project was to strengthen our internationalisation process and improve our staff’s ability to use foreign languages in customer service. We wanted to broaden our staff's knowledge of European cultures and give them inspiring experiences. We hoped the project would encourage our staff to take up other new challenges. The project consisted of 13 mobility courses in six countries. We selected courses in language, culture, stress management, soft skills, and sustainable development.

Background

Jyväskylä City Library is an organisation of 16 libraries, employing around 100 people. We teach our customers digital skills and information retrieval. We promote literacy and cultural awareness, provide a comprehensive and diverse collection of materials, and help them acquire a range of civic skills. The work requires broad general education and cultural knowledge in addition to versatile language skills to serve our multicultural clientele. We hope the project will help us in this task.
